Community UMC has always been a place where adults gather to ask real questions and build genuine friendships. Whether you're looking for a Sunday morning conversation, a monthly dinner with neighbors, or a smaller circle to think through what's next in your life, there's a place for you here. No membership required to show up.
The Seekers adult class meets Sunday mornings at 9:30 in the church library. We're currently reading Freeing Jesus by Diana Butler Bass, a thoughtful exploration of the many ways people encounter Jesus: as Friend, Teacher, Savior, Lord, Way, and Presence.
Bass writes for people who take faith seriously and institutional religion with a grain of salt. If you've ever felt like the Jesus you were handed doesn't quite fit who you've become, this book was written for you.
Come as you are. Bring your questions. The library has good chairs.
Once a month, small groups of Community UMC members gather in homes across the valley for dinner and real conversation. Groups are organized loosely by geography, so you're likely to end up around a table with neighbors you may not have met yet.
Some groups are actively welcoming new people. Others connect newcomers through our coordinator, Amber Gill, who knows the groups and will find you a seat at the right table.
Reach out to Amber through the church office at secretary@cumcps.org or (970) 264-5508.
A few times a year, Pastor Ken hosts a small dinner for people who are new to Pagosa Springs, new to Community UMC, or sitting with the question of what comes next. It's not a class, not a pitch, and there's no homework. Just good food and the kind of conversation that's hard to find in a busy life.
Space is limited. Add your name below and we'll reach out when the next dinner is scheduled.
